Environmental Studies Department
Students who complete the Environmental Studies coordinate major pursue a wide range of employment after Bowdoin, with interests including history, science, politics, law, the economy, religion, and the arts. Summer Opportunities
- Pathways to Science is a website dedicated to opportunities in the STEM fields.
- Explore specific summer programs for minority and underrepresented populations in the energy, environment, oceanography and atmospheric science under Diversity Recruiting.
- Environmental Studies Fellowships: Deadlines for Bowdoin fellowships are in February. Information on these fellowships can be found on the ES website.
- Institutional Fellowships: Summer institutional research fellowships in areas of environmental, coastal, and marine studies are offered through Student Fellowships and Research.
- Bowdoin Scientific Station, Kent Island, Canada: Spend a summer doing independent research at the Bowdoin Scientific Station. Students in natural sciences and the arts are encouraged to apply.
- Green Internships: Opportunities to work in environmental organizations and companies are posted after winter break on eBear and LACN (Liberal Arts Career Network). You are also encouraged to seek out opportunities on your own – both in the US and internationally.
- Funding for unpaid internships can be obtained through Career Planning Funded Internship Program (March deadline).
