“I own and operate a small inn on the coast in Massachusetts. I think for me personally, my time at Bowdoin and in my particular course of study helped with writing and speaking. I deal with people all the time and new to be eloquent, understanding, and have a good memory. I also write often, whether it is for social media or e-mails. Having strong writing skills is important. Beyond that the critical thinking skills are key. I have never done accounting before, but I found myself in a position where I needed to run my own business. I had not choice but to learn the necessary information. It has also been great for looking at reports of occupancy & finding travel trends in the industry. It helps me design social media campaigns.”
