Kathleen Foley ’17

Katie Foley ’17 discovered her interest in event planning through a conversation with a former supervisor. After hearing her supervisor’s experiences in the field, “I realized that it might suit the communication and organizational skills I had honed through my previous sales positions.” She pursued her curiosity through an internship with TRACS, a marketing and event management company that “strives to promote healthy living around the world [by] developing, planning, and executing sports events that link individuals to health-oriented organizations.”

“The job offered me the chance to learn about planning sports events for health-focused organizations and to introduce me to the business world as part of a small team.” Katie “learned many aspects of event organization, including venue selection, creating itineraries, developing branding materials, staffing, and social media presence.” She communicated directly with client companies about their expectations, helped plan events, conducted social media analytics after events, and presented research on potential new business ventures to senior staff members.
