McKinley ’06 Entrepreneur Grant Allows You to Develop an Original Idea for a New Product or Service

The Thomas Andrew McKinley ’06 Entrepreneur Grant is a summer grant opportunity for students with great ideas that they would like to try to bring to fruition.  Now don’t get hung up on the word entrepreneur. If you have a good idea that you would like to put into practice, if you see an opportunity for a product or service that others have missed, then this is the Career Planning grant for you.

The McKinley ’06 grant requires you to put together a simple proposal laying out what your idea is and how you would spend your summer testing it out. You’ll also need to do a budget for how you would spend the $5,000 grant.  Last summer a student had an idea to use social networking software to provide medical services for people in rural locations.  In 2009 a student wanted to create a way for African artists to sell their work in the United States.  Think about that good idea you’ve had over Winter Break and start to put it down on paper. The deadline for applications for the summer of 2012 is March 28, 2012, so you have time to get your proposal and budget into shape. If you want to talk about your idea come in and see Dighton Spooner in Career Planning. Call Laurie at extension 3717 to make an appointment. See you soon!
